IFA – IDAP Football Academy was founded in 2011 as a community initiative in South and West London, dedicated to supporting young people through sports participation and life-skills development.
The Beginning
The original focus of the project was to support young people between the ages of 16 and 24 through sports participation and life-skills development.
The programme was created to provide a positive environment where young people could stay active, build confidence, develop discipline, and gain guidance for their future through structured sports activities and mentoring.
Growth & Leadership
As the programme developed, the founders recognised the need for experienced leadership in sports development and coaching. During this period, FPN joined the project, bringing a strong background in sports, including gymnastics and football, along with experience in youth engagement and development.
The impact of the programme quickly became visible within the community. Parents and local organisations began to see the positive development in the young people involved, particularly in their confidence, discipline, teamwork, and overall personal growth.
2014 – Official Launch
Due to the growing demand from families, the organisation expanded its vision to support younger children as well. In 2014, the project officially evolved into IFA – IDAP Football Academy, establishing a structured football academy programme for young players aged 6 and above.
Building Futures
Since its official launch, IFA has grown into a successful youth development academy that has supported and developed many young players both on and off the pitch. Many IFA graduates have continued their football journeys by progressing into football trials, joining semi-professional and professional academy pathways, or exploring opportunities within the wider sports industry.
In addition to football development, IFA has also helped young people access apprenticeships, mentoring opportunities, and life-skills guidance through its partner network.
IFA Today
Today, IFA continues to build on its founding vision: using football as a powerful tool to inspire, develop, and guide young people towards positive futures while creating opportunities for talent to grow within a structured and supportive environment.
